Most Disapointing Reads of 2021

I read 145 books in 2021 which is a good number. For the most part, I enjoyed what I read. There were a lot of new favorites, but some books were disappointing. So here are my top 3 disappointing reads.

  1. A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee (3/5) Why: This was not at all what it was hyped to be. I found this book hard to get into and I almost considered not finishing it. I really wanted to enjoy this book because of the plot and the setting but found it hard to connect to the characters. It felt very predictable and at times slow paced.
  2. When Night Breaks by Janella Angeles (3/5) Why: I am not sure why I picked this up when I was not the biggest fan of the first book. But I wanted to see how the story ended. The writing was amazing, but I found I could not connect to the characters just like the first book. I found the length of the book also contributed to why I had a hard time reading it. Overall, I wish I had enjoyed it because everything about the story seemed to be for me, but I had such a hard time reading it.
  3. Small Favors by Erin A. Craig (3/5) Why: It was not engaging at all. I found it hard to get through and by the end, I did not even retain anything. The book did not really have a plot that I could follow and the characters felt one dimensional. I was so disappointed because I thought I would really like this book.
