My thoughts:

I was way behind the hype train for this as I read it recently. The book was worth the wait as it became one of my favorite books of 2019. I loved Evelyn Hugo which caused me to read all of the authors books. This book is just as amazing as her other works. The fact this is set in the 70s because I do not get to read much fiction set in this era. The format which is interview form worked perfectly for the novel a we get to hear from multiple perspectives. The multiple points of view show the reader many different sides of the same story.

All of the characters are flawed in different ways and the interviews do not shy away from that. The interview format let the story unfold as the band members told it. It exposed the turmoil of the band as they became famous. The characters added to the story as they all had different personalities which clashed at times. All of these elements made the story an amazing read and it is one of my favorite novels of the year. I cannot wait to read more from this author.
