My Thoughts:

Adam Makos is one of my favorite writers on WWII. This book was amazing and well detailed. His books are always hard to put down and this one was the same. I have not read much on the third Armored Division so this helped me learn more. My goal with reading military history this year has been to read books on subjects I was not to familiar with. The book is so well researched and the story incredible.

The book focuses on a tank gunner, Clarence Smoyer and his journey through the war. Leading to a fierce battle with an enemy tank in Cologne that leads him to go back that very city long after the war to meet with a German tank gunner. The book tells the events leading up to the fateful battle which was captured by an Army camera man.

This book has stayed with me since I read it. The book showed the camaraderie between the men who were in the tanks. It showed me a different part of the war I really did not know much about. This book is one I highly recommend and any of the books by the author are amazing. I cannot wait to read this book again and more from the author.
